I Don't Believe God Would Deny Me This One Thing

A man I was recently talking with said, "I don't believe in a God who would deny me this one thing." I said, "I believe in a God who will deny me everything. I personally know people who experience severe mental problems, infidelity in their marriage, death of a child, same-sex attraction, suicide of a family member, loss of a job, molestation as a child, being paralyzed or a wayward child. All of these people were denied sometime great. Sometimes we will be denied our most sincere and righteous desires. God can at ANY time intervene and take corrective action. Sometimes he does. Oftentimes he doesn't."

When my soul cries out, "No God, please don't deny me this thing! Take this. And you've already denied me that. But I beg, don't deny me this one thing!", I must remember why I am here. God wants to know if I love Him over everything else. Elder Holland taught, "...the crowning characteristic of love is always loyalty." Loyalty to God is always accepting and doing His will.

Giving my will to God is the HARDEST thing I face. Today, I oftentimes take my will back. And today, I do stupid $#%&@ things that effect my relationship with God and those close to me. And today, I'm grateful for the patience and forgiveness offered to me from God and those I've offended or used.

God will not deny us His peace when we are obedient to Him. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" John 14:27
